The Abreu Callado Foundation was established in 1948 by the will of the benefactor of Dr. Cosme de Campos Callado.
The 42 hectares of its vineyards are located in Benavila, on clay-loam soil, and some of these pioneering strains (still in production) are already 50 years old.
The proximity of the Maranhão Dam provides a microclimate amenity that is reflected in the high quality of Abreu Callado wines.
